Ballarat Merino Ram Sale will not be held in 2019 due to seasonal conditions
PRESS RELEASE
Victorian Sheep Show continues
without Ballarat Merino Ram Sale for 2019
Due to seasonal conditions, being a factor in a lack of available numbers to make a viable auction sale, the Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society Inc. (BAPS) Sheep Committee have decided to cancel the 2019 Ballarat Merino Ram Sale.
All Auction Vendors will be granted the opportunity to showcase their stud rams, and offer them privately if so desired, at the 2019 Victorian Sheep Show. The BAPS Sheep Committee, led by Chair, Jonathan Tischler, are committed to ensuring that we deliver on vendor’s expectations and will seek to look towards 2020 for a Ballarat Merino Ram Sale to again feature at the Ballarat Showgrounds.
In the meantime the relaunch of the Victorian Sheep Show in its new home, Ballarat Showgrounds, will continue with some wonderful things to be held including a Wool Fashion Parade, working dog competition, Ballarat Alpaca Show and many trade exhibitors appearing.
Jonathan Tischler, and BAPS Executive Officer, Lucy Quartermain, are now both focused on ensuring the strong delivery of a ‘bigger and better sheep show’ which has attracted more entries than last year and a bigger and stronger sponsorship base. Whilst just a one day event BAPS’s focus is on building on this rebranded Sheep Show to build an event that will become an extravaganza showcasing all sheep breeds, fibre, food and fashion.
With much renewed vigour in wool, Australian Wool Innovation Runway Project will be a feature on the catwalk along with woollen designers including Homie, Branberry and Interknit, Merino Snug, La Sierra Alpaca and the Creswick Woollen Mills.
A President's Breakfast, available from 7.30am on the morning of the show, is another fantastic initiative being held. Sponsored by Sinclair Meats and Bean Me Up Mobile Espresso a hearty breakfast will be delivered, and, a guest speaker, Suzanne Lewis from SL Farmer Wellness will talk about mental health and wellness. Proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to Ballarat Foundation
