Volunteer at the Ballarat Show
Volunteers are special people – those rare gems who step up to lend a helping hand.
Volunteers play an important role in society, and especially in the not for profit sector where their contribution is invaluable.
At the Ballarat Agricultural & Pastoral Society, our volunteers are priceless. They come onboard, donating their time, energy, and knowledge, and it’s our volunteers that have made our organisation the success it has been since our first event, a ploughing competition, held in 1856.
We love to have enthusiastic people interested in agriculture and the Ballarat community involved with the numerous events we showcase each year.
There are lots of different volunteering opportunities that we have to offer:
- assist with various horse events
- prepare for and assist with all the various events during the Ballarat Show in November
- support the various cattle events
- steward at the winter Victorian Sheep Show
- various sub-committees
Your time involvement can be wide-ranging from a few hours to a few days, depending on what you have available to contribute.
Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills, advance your career, and even feel happier and healthier. With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous. The right match can help you to find friends, connect with the community, learn new skills, and even advance your career. Giving to others can also help protect your mental and physical health. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose, improving your health and happiness.
